Felix Hell is one of the internationally established concert organists of his generation. More than 1,000 solo and orchestral performances have taken him across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Acclaimed as “one of the few world stars of the pipe organ” (IKZ, 2026), he has also been praised for the sensitivity of his interpretations, which “reach deep into the soul” (Die Rheinpfalz, 2026).

His appearances have included the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, the Esplanade in Singapore, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in Kuala Lumpur, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, the Great Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg, and the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts Weiwuying in Taiwan. He has also performed in many of the world’s notable cathedrals, including those in Berlin, Munich, Regensburg, Passau, Speyer, Ulm, Worms, Riga, Reykjavik, and Bogotá.

As an orchestral soloist, Hell has appeared with ensembles in North America, Europe, and Asia, including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, McGill Chamber Orchestra, National Academy Orchestra of Canada, Pfalztheaterorchester Kaiserslautern, and Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie.

At the heart of Hell’s artistic work is a desire to reveal the extraordinary expressive range of the organ. His programs bring major works of the repertoire into dialogue with unexpected discoveries and fresh perspectives on the instrument. Equally central to his work is reaching audiences who may have little previous connection with the organ. Encounters with children and young people are an important part of this mission, and workshops, conversations, and direct experiences with the instrument increasingly form an integral part of his concert projects.

Hell has also attracted international attention for complete cycles of the organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach. He has performed the full cycle, encompassing approximately 250 works and nearly 20 hours of music, four times, most recently in Seoul in 2013.

His discography includes 13 recordings. Organ Fantasies: Masterworks by Bach, Liszt and Reger was released by Universal Music in 2023. Recorded at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts Weiwuying in Taiwan, the album features the hall’s Klais organ, with 127 stops and more than 9,000 pipes, the largest pipe organ in Asia.

Hell was admitted to The Juilliard School in New York at the age of 13 and continued his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia at 15, earning the Bachelor of Music degree. He later completed the Artist Diploma, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. In 2007, Johns Hopkins University honored him with its Outstanding Graduate Award.
